Language is not a detail here
More than three hundred languages are spoken in London. When someone is frightened, unwell, or living with dementia, the language they fall back on is almost never their second one. A carer who can only work in English is a carer who cannot reach them at the moment it matters most.
We recruit for that deliberately. When a family tells us the language spoken at home, we treat it as a requirement rather than a preference, and we say so honestly if we cannot meet it.
Getting through the front door
Care in London has practical problems that do not exist elsewhere. Lifts out of service in a tower block. Fourth floor flats with no lift at all. Parking that costs a carer twelve pounds for a forty minute call, or a permit scheme that takes six weeks to join.
These are not small things. They are the difference between a care package that runs and one that quietly falls apart in month two. We ask about access, parking and building entry before we agree a round, because finding out at seven in the morning helps nobody.
