Essex is split down the middle by the railway line. The south west of the county behaves like outer London, fast and commuter driven. Head east and north and it becomes coastal, rural and considerably older.
The London edge
Basildon, Brentwood, Romford way and the Thames corridor run on commuting. Adult children working long days in the city, parents at home needing more than a phone call, and a long gap in the middle of the day.
Most of our work here fills that gap. A proper meal, medication prompts, company, and somebody who notices when something has changed.
Chelmsford and mid Essex
The county town and the villages around it are settled and comparatively well served, and families here often plan support in advance rather than in a crisis.

Southend and the coast
Southend, Clacton and the coastal towns have some of the oldest populations in the east of England, and a good many people who retired here and outlived their local network.
Loneliness is frequently the bigger problem, and it is not solved by a fifteen minute call. We would rather arrange fewer, longer visits than more rushed ones.
Colchester and the north
Colchester has a large garrison community with its own rhythms, alongside rural north Essex where distances stretch and buses are scarce. We plan for the roads as they actually are.
