Hertfordshire is a county of new towns and old ones sitting side by side, and the difference shows in the care people need. Stevenage, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Garden City were built quickly in the post war years, and the generation who moved into them as young families is now the generation needing support.
A lot of our work here is with people who have lived in the same house for fifty years and very much intend to stay in it.
The new towns
Post war housing has a particular quirk. Stairs that are steep and narrow, bathrooms upstairs, and layouts that made sense for a young family and make very little sense at eighty five.
We look at the house properly before agreeing a plan. Adapting the care to the building is usually more realistic than adapting the building to the care.
St Albans, Harpenden and the older towns
Different housing again, often period properties with the same access problems as anywhere old. Families here tend to be planning ahead rather than reacting to a crisis, which makes our job considerably easier and the outcome considerably better.
If you are thinking about support before you strictly need it, that is the best time to ring.
Watford and the London edge
The south of the county behaves more like outer London. Denser, faster, more people living alone, and more short notice hospital discharges landing on families with no plan in place.
We are used to picking those up quickly, and we will tell you honestly if we cannot.
What we provide in Hertfordshire
Adult care at home across the county. Care for children and young people aged seven to seventeen, including autism, disabilities and complex medical needs. Medication delivery, including controlled drugs and IV infusions. Recruitment and staffing across health and social care, warehousing, hospitality and cleaning. Healthcare grade cleaning for care homes, offices and private homes.
Beyond this county
We cover the whole of the United Kingdom. Where we do not yet have a local team, tell us what you need and we will arrange it rather than turn you away.
